Embroidery is the tradition of the region which have trickled down through centuries as an effort to preserve them. These craft products were ritualistic as well as utilitarian-daily household products. The embroidery artisans essentially produced for their own consumption or for those in their own village. Traditionally this craft was taken up as a part-time vocation in the off-season months to supplement the income,but with the increasing demand for these unique high-quality products, hand embroidery craft has become a commercial activity. utilitarian articles and other decorative pieces. With the influx of tourism in the state, the souvenir market has increased manifold. This is the main market source for these artisans. This has rendered most of these activities’ seasonal vocations. The tourist season, during which most of these artisans have their maximum sales. During the lean season, most of these artisans shift to other daily wage jobs working as crop cutters, milkmaids, and other household or construction workers. The souvenir and antique ware traders have monopolized the market and the rates are fixed by them are not negotiable. The emporiums, showrooms and local tourist markets are another alternate marketing channel for these artisans. Thread breaks are frustrating for embroidery workers and the digitizing industry. However, you can’t run away from thread breaks. You will encounter them more often than any other major issue in the embroidery process. A smart way is to know how to trouble thread breaks rather than running away from them. The only thing you need to do is to the type of thread break you are having. It will enable you to avoid future hassles when you encounter the thread breaks problem again.

   North India

One of the most common problems that occur during the embroidery digitizing process is the embroidery thread breaks problem. If you are new to the industry, this may the first problem that you may encounter in the embroidery machines. The problem of thread breaking is inevitable in the embroidery digitizing world.

In fact, this will be the only problem that you may face more often. If you are a newbie or a novice having only the basic knowledge of the embroidery digitizing artwork process and don’t know how the whole process of how the embroidery machine works, then you will find it hard to troubleshoot the thread break problem.

   East India

There are several problems faced by the people and some ways to troubleshoot and get rid of the problems they must

• Ensure that your thread path is unobstructed and is correctly threaded.

• Check and confirm that the fabric being used for your embroidery is properly hooped.

• Check and confirm that the tension levels are right and appropriate.

• Thread being used are adequately strong. • Check to ascertain if you have the burrs in the needle or in the needle itself.

   West India

Handicrafts and women both the terms are having their identity and if the handicrafts are being produced by women, then their identity becomes more meaningful. In this study, age has been categorized into five groups. Majority of the respondents consisting of 48% women belonged to the age group of 31-40 years, 25 % of the women were of 21-30 years, 15 % were found to be in the 41-50 years, 5% in the category of 51 years and above and 7 % belongs in 18-21 years section.

No women were found illiterate. 55% of the women had studied less than class 10th standard. 30% women had studied upto Class 10th and 12% women had passed Class 12th. 3% women were found to be graduated. Out of total respondents 80% are married, 20% were single.

   South India
